Bikers and dancers for Charity
The Scotia Gold Wings bikers and Fierce Pro Dance Group joined forces to raise money for the Ayrshire Hospice as part of the opening day events for the Largs Viking Festival on Saturday afternoon. The eight Honda bikes and five dancers took part in the parade to the Viking Village where the dancers performed their routines while the bikes parked in the prom. The bikers collected a lot of cash while spectators admired the beautiful motorbikes.
After the routines, the girls walked up and down the prom rattling their buckets then, as passengers on the bikes, did a tour of the town collecting even more cash! It was a noisy and colourful procession as the bikers played Scottish music and sounded their many sirens, attracting lots of attention.
Over the last few years the Gold Wings have been a popular addition to the parade and when a fellow biker and Viking Festival colleague, Norman Stewart died earlier this year, it was decided to collect for the Hospice where Norman received wonderful support.
When the fun was over the amount of cash raised was an amazing £500 for Ayrshire Hospice. The bikers have decided to make this their charity each year that they attend the Viking Festival, especially the big event in 2013.
The partnership with bikers and dancers was so successful that the girls are going to get photos taken with the Gold Wings for their calendar! A big thanks to the public for their generous support on Saturday.
