Largs Information
Largs is a lovely little town on the Firth of Clyde known for being a tourism hotspot. It is ideally situated close to both Glasgow and Ayr and has transport links to both these cities whether it be train or bus.
Largs is the famous location of the “Battle of Largs” in 1263, where the Scots fought off a Viking Invasion successfully. Every year around August/September, there is a Viking festival held in the town to mark this event. There is a recreation of a Viking village, fireworks display, fun fair and battle re-enactments.
The town has embraced its fame and has built a centre called Vikingar in which you can learn about the Vikings and their significance of the time. The centre also has an indoor swimming pool, an indoor play area for children and an outdoor mini golf area.
Largs has a promenade where you can easily get lost in time, with its beautiful beaches, sea side entertainment, tenpin bowling alley and many cafes and ice cream shops. The town also gives access to the Island of Cumbrae.
